In Our Church

Serving the Church
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Romans 12:11

Scriptures call us to serve the church, as building up the church is not us serving ourselves but us serving the Lord. Below are Friendship Presbyterian Church’s current service needs. Please prayerfully consider using the gifts our Lord has given you to strengthen our church through your service. Please consider serving as an…

USHER : Ushers greet people as they enter the church, hand out bulletins, collect the offering during the service, and assist one of the deacons at the welcome table after the service. All regular attendees of the church may serve in this capacity. A time commitment of two consecutive Sundays from 10:45 a.m. until the end of the service is required on a semi-regular basis.

HOSPITALITY TEAM MEMBER : Our hospitality team prepares the coffee and snacks for fellowship following the service, and assists in the cleanup at the end of the fellowship. All regular attendees of the church may serve in this capacity. Team members commit to four consecutive Sundays. Preparation is done at 10:45 a.m., with set up done just before the service ends.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY: Opportunities exist for both teaching and assisting in the classrooms pending an interview with the Children's Ministry Director or Pastor. Teachers teach one of the four Sunday school classes with our provided curriculum. Additional time to review teaching materials and set up of classroom is needed. Assistants assist the teacher during the Sunday School class, with helping children read, assisting with crafts, etc. Only members may apply to teach the classes, assistants may serve pending interview with the Children's Ministry Director.

WORSHIP TEAM MEMBER : Worship team members sing or play an instrument during the church service or during a small group fellowship. Church members or regular attendees are invited to serve however this is pending approval based on experience, training, a testimony of faith, and an audition. Team members commit to one Sunday service per month, including either a Thursday evening or Saturday morning rehearsal.

SMALL GROUP LEADER: Lead a group of individuals in bible study and fellowship with provided curriculum materials. Church members or regular attendees may serve. Leaders serve pending approval based on testimony, interview and completion of FPC small group training.

DEACON OR ELDER Individuals may be nominated by church members and voted on during congregational meetings. Qualifications and training are outlined within the church constitution. Please speak with Pastor Dennis Brown for more information on joining the church leadership team.

WELCOME TEAM MEMBERS to provide outreach to new attendees each week through phone calls and emails to encourage community by extending a welcome;

AUDIO/VISUAL TEAM MEMBERS to support the Worship Team in setup and teardown of sound equipment each week;

NURSERY CARE to assist with watching children up to 2.5 years old in the 5th floor nursery. Volunteers may serve pending interview.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:1011
